  28. just spent the last two days trying to get a Telebit 8840 to work with 
  29. Win95 and Shiva remote dial-in. - Succeeded ! ! !!

  31. For .INF file docu: 
  32.  
  33. 1) the .INF files for modems are in a hidden directory in Windows 
  34. directory. They are mdm*.inf. 
  35. 2) These files generally refer to a group of modems for 1 modem 
  36. manufacturer.
  37. 3) Most of the stuff in it can be read by studying the .INF files.
  38. 4) The microsoft developer network CDs - 30 of them ? include a set of 
  39. CDs called the Windows Device Driver Kit. There is a modems directory in 
  40. the DDK for Windows95 CD. This has the full docuentation. 
  41. 5) Also on the DDK CD rom are tools to help write and debug driver 
  42. files. Of great use is the INF file editor. Which simplifies the efforts 
  43. required in supporting a modem.

  47. b.t.w. For telebit - download the latest 8840 Bios from 
  48. http://www.telebit.com and download the new .INF file from the same 
  49. site.

  51. b.t.w.2. For Shiva dial-back to work there must be a key in the .INF 
  52. file for the codes Blind_On and Blind_Off.
